Use your doodle

Want to unlock your inner creative energy? The answer is as simple as a doodle.
Research has shown that the simple act of letting your brain wander while doodling can actually improve your focus, help you retain valuable information, solve problems and change the way you look at simple or complex challenges. And the best part is, you don’t have to be a pro to do it! In fact, Sunni Brown, author of The Doodle Revolution, claims that doodling “is actually native to us, and we are all simply denying that instinct”, given that society often views doodling as meaningless and attention stealing.
But we echo Sunni’s mantra… “Doodlers Unite!” It’s inspiring to see where an initial doodle or blank canvas can take you. Just look at what’s happened with coffee conglomerate Starbucks after the scandal that was the “plain red cup” in 2015. This year, Starbucks is promoting unity – while simultaneously engaging in customer appreciation – by using 13 different cups featuring doodled creations from women across the world.
So go on, doodle away! But we recommend (nay, insist) that you save them or better yet, carry a special notebook or journal designated as doodle-only. This way, you start building a creative resource for yourself that may help with projects down the road!
